Identity
The TRADENER project (Energy Transition and Democracy) is made up by activists and researchers from Ekologistak Martxan, , Ingeniería Sin Fronteras País Vasco (Engineering Without Borders from the Basque Country) and the Department of Political Science of the University of the Basque Country with the aim of deepening the concept of Democratic Energy Transition, understanding that an energy transition is necessary to overcome our dependence on fossil fuels (and other forms of great impact such as nuclear, hydroelectric or agrofuels) but must also be democratic. For this, we believe that we must take into account all people, and because of the global nature of the society where we live, that means to include other counties, communities and ecosystems in the equation.
Energy for what and for whom?
TRADENER is the continuation of a line of work where we have been focused for many years, and where we have already produced several researches and documentaries, as well as created spaces for reflection and sharing ideas.
For more information about our work you can check the book «Energy Transitions: Sustainability and Energy Democracy» (only available in Basque and Spanish).
We also recommend the documentary «ENERGY TRANSITIONS, TURN ON THE CHANGE!», available in Euskera, Spanish and English, which shows the research work carried out during these years.
